I would use stuff to feel better. I used to believe stuff defined me. I would collect stuff. I kept stuff hidden away in bins. I have found a new perspective about the stuff I need or want in my life.
It took several passes of decluttering to let go of my stuff that didn't add meaning to my life. Each time I got rid of something whether donating it, selling it or throwing it out I felt so liberated and free.
Now my home is a place for happiness, good times, and relationship building, not a place to store stuff.
I still appreciate the things I own. I just don't let them own me. Plus living with less stuff gives me more free time and more money. One example is the less I have in my house the less things I need to clean which means more free time to do the things I love.
Lately I began to realize my favorite things aren't things or stuff. My favorite things are connecting with people, sharing my passion, traveling, being in nature with my Jeep, a good nights sleep, hanging with friends and spending time with my family. I cherish those experiences and relationships, not things.
After all these years I am beginning to really live life ~ to experience life everyday!
