A couple of weeks ago I posted several videos on You Tube. These videos were my attempts to drive my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon out of my shoveled driveway into 25 inches of snow on our street. On my third attempt we finally barreled through.
There were several comments made on these videos about what I could have done to make it through the deep snow. Some comments even said, without a lift and bigger tires that would be very difficult.
The title of my videos I used the words Stock Jeep. One poster commented a Rubicon is not really a stock Jeep. That got me thinking. I think he might just be right.
My Rubicon is pretty much the same as it was when I drove it off the dealer lot, minus the factory rear and front bumper. I added a new rear and front bumper AND... rock sliders AND a oil pan/transmission skid plate. AND some other items.
Most folks who want to mod their own Jeep buy a Sport and then add their own unique modifications to the Sport. The Sahara has a more refined interior. Now the Rubicon was modified by Jeep for those off-road trails.
Tru-Lok® Differential Rear Axle
3.73 Front / Rear Axle Ratios
A numerically lower axle ratio results in lower engine rpm and better fuel economy. A numerically higher ratio improves acceleration, climbing grades, carrying loads or pulling a trailer.
Next Generation Dana® 44 Heavy Duty Rear Axle
Next Generation Dana® 44 heavy duty solid rear axle has a larger ring gear, stiffer and stronger housing, and larger pinion bearings to handle added torque requirements. Dana is a registered trademark of Dana Corporation.
4:1 Rock-Trac® Part-Time 4WD System
The Rock-Trac® part-time 4WD system includes Tru-Lok® front and rear electronic locking differentials and a low 4:1 gear ratio. The 4:1 low gear ratio allows the vehicle to crawl at a lower speed for greater control and greater low-end torque available at the wheels.

You know the Wrangler has three different models, the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. The Sport is the basic bare bones model when you drive it off the dealer lot.
They took a stock Jeep Wrangler and modified it at the factory adding...
4:1 Rock Trac part-time 4wd
4.10 Front/Rear Axle Ratios
Next Generation Dana 44 Heavy Duty Front/Rear
Axle
Tru-lock Differentials on the front and rear
So a Big Thank You to the poster who opened my eyes! No longer will I call my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon a stock Jeep!

Command-Trac® Shift - on - the - Fly Part-Time 4WD
The Command-Trac® part-time four-wheel drive is a shift-on-the-fly system with a 2.72:1 low range for rock crawling and neutral for flat towing. When four-wheel power is required, like slick conditions where more traction is required, the system must be shifted from two-wheel drive into four-wheel drive high range by the driver.
